Arlene Riona
Curiosity drives innovation… But sharing knowledge gives it a purpose!
Meet Arlene Riona, a third-year Data Science & AI Student at the University of Doha for Science & Technology, aspiring AI engineer, public speaker, peer tutor, and passionate advocate for making complex technology easier to understand.
For Arlene, understanding technology goes far beyond simply knowing how it works… she wants to understand why it works.
Driven by a deep curiosity for the mathematics and logic behind intelligent systems, Arlene approaches AI with the mindset of both a builder and a teacher.
Her passion for technology is matched by her passion for people. As a trained public speaker, she loves transforming complex technical concepts into intuitive, story-driven ideas that others can connect with.
That same mindset inspired her to co-create Layer Zero, a platform focused on explaining AI from first principles, while also serving as a Peer Tutor in Data Structures & Algorithms.
For Arlene, one of the most rewarding moments isn’t simply understanding something herself… it’s watching it finally “click” for someone else.
- Third-year Data Science & AI Student at #UDST
- 2nd Place at the CMUQ Lifelines Hackathon
- Co-creator of Layer Zero, making AI concepts accessible through first-principles learning
- Speaker at community events including AI Tinkers and Google Developer Groups Doha (GDG Doha)
- AI & Data Analytics Intern at Siemens, gaining experience applying AI and data science to real-world business needs.
- Embraces challenges, setbacks, and failure as opportunities to learn, grow, and build resilience
Arlene hopes to build a career in AI focused on developing intelligent, scalable cloud systems and responsible MLOps pipelines.
But building technology is only one part of her vision.
She plans to continue sharing knowledge, speaking at community events, and growing platforms like Layer Zero to help others understand and engage with the technologies shaping our future.
Her advice is simple:
“Never fear trying something new. Even if you think you might fail, take the leap anyway.”
A reminder that stepping beyond your comfort zone may lead to failure, success, or something even more valuable…
Discovering what you’re truly capable of.
