Pay Your Interns
Here’s a truth most managers don’t want to hear: pay your interns!
You’re asking a student or fresh graduate to:
- Show up 8 hours a day, 5-6 days a week
- Travel to your office
- Complete tasks
- Learn new skills
- Go above and beyond
- Contribute to your team
- And more…
…all for free????
Most of them are already juggling university’s high tuition fees, transportation, and everyday expenses. An internship is an investment, on both sides! The company gets time, effort, talent, and a fresh perspective. The intern gets experience… only!
So why should only one side actually benefit??
And if your argument is “Interns are useless” or “They don’t really contribute,” then the real question is: what are you doing to make them useful?
So let’s rethink how internships are structured.
