Stop Lying to Yourself About Being “Busy”
Stop lying to yourself about being “busy”! You’re not busy. You’re simply avoiding.
Summer is 2 months, 60 days, around 1,440 hours. Take away sleep, and you still have roughly 1,000 hours.
That number hit me hard. 1,000 hours can do a lot. You can use them to scroll and absolutely do nothing, or you can use them to build something very small that changes your future.
Save what’s left and try to do those:
- Learn one practical skill. Excel, Canva, LinkedIn, sales, public speaking, anything useful.
- Gain one real experience. An internship, volunteering, freelancing, helping in a family business.
- Build one proof of work. A project, portfolio, case study, event, content page, or a LinkedIn post.
- Reflect on who you’re becoming. What motivates you? What kind of work fits you?
I’m not attacking anyone here, I just hate seeing students underestimate how powerful one summer can be!
You do not need to have everything figured out. You just need to use your time with more intention. Even 2 focused hours a day can create momentum.
You still have time. So ask yourself now, what are you doing with your 1,000 hours?
(also if you actually used this summer, perfect, keep it up)
